Appreciation
'Appreciation'- ah the word means a lot to me and I'm sure it means a lot to you as well! After all who doesn't like being appreciated for whatever little things that one has done? A little praise can surely go a long way!
Have you ever noticed how appreciation can be the biggest motivator ever? It gives a person that feeling of importance which we all vie for and this same 'feeling of importance' has driven so many to do a particular thing.
A little act of acknowledging others is sure to work wonders because you have made the other person feel special. Now you might ask why should you bother to care about others? The simple answer is that we are all humans linked by a very special thread which connects us all together. One cannot be happy at the expense of someone else's happiness. Yet that is what we see happening all around the world. But do you think you will be at peace if you know you have hurt someone? Atleast my answer would be NO! We all have a strong conscience which will not let us be at peace until things are put right!
So I belive in creating a happy environment around me, to the best of my abilities. I appreciate my family and friends and let them know that their presence matters to me... yes I will repeat that ' That their presence matters to me' ! I appreciate the cool breeze on a hot afternoon, the melodious chirping of birds, the flowers blooming outside my window, the warmth of the sun's rays on my face when Im rushing for the morning lecture, the glowing moon... Given a chance, I'd like to appreciate everthing!
Be it the mess workers working effortlessly to provide us food on time, or the hostel cleaners or a waiter or a very boring professor who can make you go into such an unnaturally peaceful slumber; lets take a moment from our lives and acknowledge and appreciate all of them for being there...
So people, please try to make the other person feel special ... coz you might just make their day today! And dont forget to appreciate yourself too for being the way you are! Keep smiling :)

Home is where the heart is...
"I'm Home! ", said I.... Oh how we all wait to say that!... Every time I'm home, I just realize what an important role the word 'home' plays in our lives... Yes I do agree that I just love my new hostel room especially coz now its been decorated by me but home just has a flavor of its own...
Once home, I feel so much relaxed...and its no wonder that i sleep so peacefully there... Its like a protection; a secure place of your own ... and mostly my visits home are like a vacation which totally rejuvenates me for the next month ( yes I am privileged enough to make it home at least once a month :D )
Inspite of knowing and appreciating my home during every visit, this is the first time I'm typing down my thoughts here... I remember that look in my Mom's eyes when she comes to pick me up at the bus stop.... my sisters hug when I'm home...and the loong tea sessions along with the gossip that follows...I definitely have a gala time at home!!...
Now coming to home again, I donno if you all face this too but I do have special places in my home which have some memories attached with them.... be it a particular seat on the sofa or a particular corner of the room. And when I'm home I do put in some thought when I'm there trying to re-live those moments (and my family obviously pampers me and allows me to do that ) Donno about you but I don't want ma home to look all spic and clean because then it doesn't look inhabited at all! Hehe... ( some excuse of not having to do the cleaning always :D) Also have you noted that you never find a thing in its place when you most want it...its sure to be hidden in some secret drawer or a cupboard...but nevertheless it reveals itself eventually only to be lost again soon... :D... and of course the lovely smells that keep wafting from the kitchen....I feel my hunger hormones stimulated...hehe...not to mention how my appetite quadrables!
I love looking at all those paintings put up which bring back the thoughts put in while buying them; the sofas, the crystal show-pieces got by Dad during his innumerable visits abroad, the scenery poster put up by me, the mementos won ...every single thing has so many thoughts and memories associated with it...Its all so wonderful!
These small things make me realize just how attached I am to my home which makes me so restless if I haven't been home for more than a month... Can't imagine how I will manage when in some years I will be able to make it home only once in a few months... Till then...Cheers to ma Home every month!
And yes, so what if the pic at the top shows some American home... the spirit of Home is the same everywhere... Home is where the heart is!
